two new calls for projects in sports at the local level and promotion of sustainable behavior through sports have been opened.

The European Commission wants to bridge the growing gap between the availability of sports activities and the growing demand of people for physical activities. It does so through the following 2 new calls for proposals in the field of sports.

Call - Preparatory action - Sports programs at the local level and innovations in infrastructure (PPPA-SPORT-2022-GRASSROOTS-INNOVATION)
The aim of the invitation is to try to encourage the sports sector to improve its offer through creativity, innovation and new practices through preparatory activities.
The intention is to design and test innovative solutions for the supply and satisfaction of the demand for sports and to provide an ecosystem of sports innovations that will make this possible so that new ways of playing sports can be offered to the general public more quickly.

Activities should promote new forms of sports, such as:
- adaptation of the existing infrastructure and development of light sports content that directly complement the expected results
- organizing new forms of physical activities and integration with traditional activities offered by sports activities
− innovative approaches to training programs
- intergenerational activities and reaching out to young people in order to increase their participation
- use of digital technology and social media.
Eligible applicants: legal entities (public or private bodies) from an EU member state, organizations active in the field of sports (such as a sports association or club), with a legal entity (public or private body) that regularly organizes sports activities and competitions and has activities in Europe.
Total budget: EUR 1.95 million

Call - Sport for people and the planet - a new approach to sustainability through sport in Europe (PPPA-SPORT-2022-PEOPLE-PLANET)
In order for sport to maximize its importance and assume its responsibility in creating a more sustainable Europe, an innovative concept that contributes to people and the planet is needed. This project will use the power of sport to make European citizens aware of the importance of sustainability and help them understand how they can contribute to social cohesion and environmental protection. In addition, this initiative will be in line with the goals of the New European Bauhaus.

The goals of the proposed project are:
1. Raise awareness, encourage behavior and lead thinking in European society about how sport can enable and accelerate social and environmental transformation
2. Engage EU citizens in active participation in sustainable measures using the communication power of sport, its main events and leading ambassadors.
The action should be focused on examples of inspiring behavior and practices at the local level that can be multiplied, and on methods for involving citizens and sports stakeholders in communities to co-create and cooperate in the field of sustainable sports practices.
