Osijek-Baranja County was declared the European Sports Region for 2024 at a ceremony in the European Parliament in Brussels. 

The distinctiveness of Osijek-Baranja County as a sports region has been contributed by households to numerous amateur and top sports events, starting with the Pannonian Challenge, the DOBRO World Cup, long-term activities on the development of sports infrastructure, education of the population and inclusion of all age groups in sports, and emphasis on work with young people and support for top athletes.
