Application of innovative development for the purpose of retaining talented citizens in Osijek-Baranja County

The Vice-President of the European Commission, Dubravka Šuica, presented the announcement of the European Commission on the attractiveness of European regions for young talents and experts.

The Office of the Representative Office of the German federal state of Saxony in Brussels organized a conference entitled "How to make regions attractive and livable for talented people?" as part of the European Year of Skills. The aim of this conference was to present local solutions and start a conversation about how to strengthen the resilience and competitiveness of regions affected by demographic changes.

On this occasion, the Deputy Prefect of Osijek-Baranja County, Josip Miletić, presented investments through which Osijek-Baranja County gathers knowledge, skills and resources and focuses on the challenges of demographic changes in rural areas. He pointed out several important projects and programs that the Osijek-Baranja County has been implementing in recent years, especially in the fields of economy, education, agriculture and infrastructure development.

Also, the county is completing two strategically important projects, the construction of the Regional Distribution Center of Osijek-Baranja County for fruits and vegetables and the construction of the Economic Center, which will raise the economic and economic visibility not only of Osijek-Baranja County, but also of the entire east of Croatia.

The German federal state of Saxony presented the Simul⁺InnovationHub platform , which brings together interested and committed citizens with stakeholders from research, companies, the state and municipalities. The Creative Hub KUMST project was presented in front of the Czech province of South Moravia. The project provides systematic support for business in creative branches.

The special guest was the Vice-President of the European Commission and Commissioner for Democracy and Demography Dubravka Šuica, who presented the press release " Harnessing talent in Europe's regions ''.

Announcement of the European Commission, Harnessing talent in Europe's regions '' was published on January 17, 2023. The focus is on the demographic development in many European regions and the question of how a region can remain attractive and assert itself, especially with regard to the employment of qualified workers. Vice-President Šuica particularly pointed out that the European Commission is launching a "Mechanism for the promotion of talents". This mechanism will support EU regions affected by an accelerated decline in the number of working-age populations in training, retaining and attracting the people, skills and competences needed to address the impact of the demographic transition.

In addition to the Vice President of the European Commission and the Commissioner for Democracy and Demography Dubravka Šuica and the Deputy Prefect of Osijek-Baranja County Josip Miletić, the conference was attended by Nives Mazur-Kumrić from the Permanent Representation of the Republic of Croatia to the European Union and Renata Taušan , Head of the Office of the Representation of Slavonia, Baranja and Meeting in Brussels.
