Questionnaire – Youth4Reviving Territories
The Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy (DG REGIO) of the European Commission is working on a project to address the issue of shrinking youth populations in European regions.
The overall aim of this project is to develop a toolkit with policy recommendations that regional and local authorities can use with the goal of retaining and attracting young people (notably from 15-29 years old) in their territories.
Free movement, one of the fundamental rights of EU citizens, has facilitated the mobility of labor and education within the EU for years. However, in some regions this freedom has led to a significant rate of external migration of their citizens, each of whom has different reasons for leaving. This caused some regions to remain trapped in stagnant development.
This trend is particularly visible among young adults (15-29). For this reason, the European Commission is investigating what solutions could be applied by regions that face the possibility of being trapped in stagnant development due to high rates of external migration among their young adult population. This is the reason why young people want to be asked for their opinion on certain factors that could make regions more attractive for young people. This will ensure that the final policy recommendations of this project are shaped by the people and organizations at the center of the trend.
As part of the project, we have developed a short, five-minute (we promise!) questionnaire to understand the push and pull factors that certain regions might have for young people in the EU. By gathering your input, we wish to make sure to base our policy recommendations of this project on your opinions and perspectives! The questionnaire takes roughly 5 minutes to fill out and is available in all 24 official languages of the EU.
We are looking to reach as many young people from across the EU as possible. Therefore, we would be grateful if you could not only answer the questionnaire but also share it far and wide to young people across the EU!
