In the Representative Office of Slavonia, Baranja and Srijem, the historic successes of Croatian diplomacy were celebrated. 10 years since Croatia's entry into the European Union, and integration into the Eurozone and the Schengen area.

As hosts, the reception was attended by the Prefect of Požega-Slavonia County Antonija Jozić, Prefect of Virovitica-Podravine County Igor Andrović, Prefect of Brod-Posavina County Danijel Marušić, Deputy Prefect of Osijek-Baranja County Josip Miletić, and the head of the Representation of Slavonia, Baranja and Srijem in Brussels, Rena Taušan.

This was an opportunity, apart from the success of the Republic of Croatia, to highlight the successes of the counties that, through EU membership and financing from EU funds, realized numerous projects that they would not have been able to finance from their own budgets.

Addressing the audience on behalf of the five Slavonian prefects, Prefect Antonija Jozić on this occasion pointed out that numerous great achievements have been achieved in the past period."Croatia has successfully used its first full envelope weighing over 10 billion euros. We are currently in the phase where we are using the second financial envelope for the period 2021/2027, but also the funds from the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism. We are extremely proud of the achieved achievements because we are one of the few EU members that has already come a long way with the use of funds from the National Plan for Recovery and Resilience," said the prefect and emphasized that the mentioned funds were used to work on the infrastructure that Croatia really needs. especially the infrastructure in the area of ​​Slavonia, Baranja and Srijem, so that Slavonia, that is, the entire region, becomes more developed and reaches the EU average.

The celebration was graced by the presence of the Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia to the Kingdom of Belgium Josip Paro, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Republic of Croatia to the European Union Irena Andrassy, ​​Members of the European Parliament Karlo Ressler and Tomislav Sokol, Head of the Defense Department of the Permanent Representation of the Republic of Croatia to NATO Goran Grošinić, State Secretary in the Ministry of Regional Development and Funds of the European Union Domagoj Mikulić, President of the Zagreb City Assembly Joško Klisović, Prefect of the Dubrovnik-Neretva County Nikola Dobroslavić and other prominent guests. 

As part of the commemoration of this significant anniversary in Brussels, the film "Diplomatic Storm" based on the book of the same name by the war minister of the Republic of Croatia, now a special advisor for foreign policy to the Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković, was premiered. 

The Representative office of Slavonia, Baranja and Srijem, as the only regional representative office from the Republic of Croatia in Brussels, continues with the planned activities of connecting with EU institutions and exchanging information, all with the aim of further progress and development of eastern Croatia.
