A new call in 2023 Culture of Solidarity Fund supports European transnational collaborative initiatives that deal with the topic of just transition and ecological sustainability from a specific cultural angle.
Climate change is the most urgent concern of our time. A successful systemic transition from a resource-rich Western lifestyle to more sustainable models requires a radical shift in individual and societal values related to work, the environment, and social justice. Likewise, such a transition must be fair and just. Culture plays an important role in this context because it shapes people's beliefs and behaviors.
Cultural and artistic organizations, media, activists and the creative sector have a unique ability to foster solidarity, ask critical questions and build consensus.Taking into account the cultural context and specific values of communities, these actors can develop transition strategies that are fair, equitable and respect the needs and aspirations of all affected citizens and communities, ensuring that no one is left behind.
The call is open to organizations based in Europe, civil, public or private organizations with legal status operating in the cultural and creative or other sectors of society, including education and academia, health and social care, environment, human rights, rural development, spatial planning , etc. In accordance with the mission of creating solidarity through culture, the Fund especially welcomes actions in accordance with the theme of this call that encourage European transnational and/or translocal cooperation, and thus the building of cross-border alliances of solidarity.
For this edition, we are looking for new ideas and experimental initiatives that deal only with the transition from an inherently cultural angle towards:
·raising public awareness of the complexity and urgency of adapting to climate change and other environmental emergencies in a systematic way
·strengthening democratic processes
·designing creative solutions for changing the ecosystem
·encouraging a holistic approach to work and a culture of cooperation between public and private sector stakeholders who are key actors in social and economic transformation.
The fund has grants available in three amounts:
• up to €10,000
• 10,000 – 20,000 €
• 20,000 – 30,000 €.
