Delegations from five Slavonian counties visited the Vice-President of the European Commission for Democracy and Demography, Dubravka Šuica.
On the topic of demography and new demographic challenges, both at the level of the European Union and Croatia, and the development of democracy, a reception and discussion of representatives of five Slavonic counties was held with the Vice President of the European Commission, Dubravka Šuica.
The Vice-President highlighted and presented the European Commission's initiative, instruments for managing demographic changes in the Union. Namely, on October 11, 2023, the Commission adopted a Communication in which it presented a number of policy instruments available to member states for managing demographic changes and their impact on the Union's society and economy, including its global competitiveness.
The Communication lists a number of instruments (including regulatory instruments, policy frameworks and funding) available to Member States for this purpose. These instruments can be effectively combined with national and regional policies to empower and support everyone to better cope with the challenges of demographic change and take advantage of its benefits.
The Demography package is based on experiences from across the Union and contains a comprehensive approach to demographic change.
The meeting was attended by the head of the office of the Representative Office Renata Taušan, the prefects Igor Andrović and Danijel Marušić, the deputy prefect of VSŽ Franjo Orešković and the president of the County Assembly OBŽ Ivana Bagarić.
