2019 marks the 25th anniversary of the European Committee of the Regions (CoR). This anniversary already celebrated throughout various specific events, for instance the European Summit of Regions and Cities in Bucharest on 14-15 March or the joint anniversary event with the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe on 27 June.

The European Week of Regions and Cities (EWRC) from 7 to 10 October highlighted CoR position on the next multiannual financial framework (MFF) and the cohesion policy. The last plenary of 2019, from 4 to 5 December, allowed a debate with the new representatives of the European institutions, about the importance of regions and cities, multilevel governance and partnership as well as the renewal of Europe from the ground up.

Alongside political debates during the plenary, on 4 December 2019, in the CoR premises, was held a cultural event at which all European Regions were invited to contribute.

This event was the occasion to show off the diversity of European territories.

The transnational orchestra, Euregio Saxophone Orchestra, embodyed the musical dimension of cultural diversity in Europe and most European Regions had the opportunity to present their local gastronomic specialties, wine and promotional videos.
