Croatia received Third Installment of 700 million euros for Recovery Plan

The European Commission paid Croatia the third installment of EUR 700 million as part of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan.

Yesterday in Zagreb, Vice President of the European Commission Dubravka Šuica ceremoniously presented Prime Minister Andrej Plenković with the decision on the payment of the third installment of 700 million euros as part of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan.

Croatia thus received the third payment after submitting a payment request to the Commission in July 2023 based on the fulfillment of 32 key stages and 13 target values within this third payment request defined by the Council's Implementing Decision. This includes reforms in the field of healthcare; science and higher education; research and innovation; labor market; waste management; and renewable energy sources, as well as investments in the energy renovation of buildings, the green and digital transition of tourism, and the reduction of the administrative burden for companies.

More information about the Commission's positive preliminary assessment of the third Croatian request for payment can be found at this link. With this payment, Croatia has so far received a total of EUR 2.9 billion in support under the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism. This includes an €818 million pre-financing disbursement in September 2021, followed by three payments worth €700 million each in June and December 2022 – and today.

Croatia's recovery and resilience plan is financed with grants in the amount of 5.5 billion euros, and in August 2023, Croatia submitted a request to amend the plan and add a chapter on the REPowerEU plan. The Commission positively assessed Croatia's revised plan, and it will be financed with a total of 10 billion euros.
