On the initiative of the European Commission, a new network platform „Re-open EU” was launchen to provide the safe travel and tourism in Europe.
Real-time information and tourist services in the Member States will be available on the platform. „Re-open EU“ will contain practical information from the member states on restricted travel, public health and safety measures, examples of restricting social contacts or wearing face masks and other user information on tourism offers in the EU and Member States. This will allow Europeans to make responsible and thoughtful decisions about the risks associated with coronavirus while planning holidays and travel during and after this summer.
It should be emphasized that „Re-open EU“ platform is part of the tourism and transport package launched by the Commission on 13 May 2020 to help rebuild passanger confidence in the EU and safely launch European tourism while respecting the necessary protection health measures.
The new platform, which is also adapted for use on mobile phones as an internet application, serves as a main reference point for anyone traveling to the EU as it centralizes updated information from the Commission and the Member States.
The interactive map will be used to search for information, news and advice for each of the EU member states. The platform, available in 24 official EU languages, will be easily accessible via an application or website.
The European digital heritage platform Europeana is introducing a collection of works of art and photographs Discovering Europe with some of Europe's most famous landmarks. In addition, a special section on Europeana Pro will be dedicated to tourism to help cultural heritage professionals find out about tourism support initiatives across the EU.
