The COR will promote cohesion as a core value in all EU policies and programs, and cohesion is more than money, it is a value that leads to sustainable economic growth, creates long-term employment opportunities for all and adopts location-based policies that meet citizens' needs.
Priority 1
Europe closer to the people: Democracy and the future of the EU
Rethink how democracy works today and how it needs to be modernized in the future so that the European Union can respond more effectively to people's needs.
The main priority is to bring Europe closer to the people and to strengthen European democracy at all levels of government. It aims to improve the way the EU works by ensuring that its policies and programs meet the real needs of citizens.
Priority 2
Managing fundamental social transformations: Building resilient regional and local communities
Respond to the great changes that our regions, cities are still facing today with a coherent, integrated and local European approach.
The global pandemic, climate, digital and demographic changes, as well as the flow of migration have a strong impact on every European region, city, town and village. Guided by the UN Sustainable Development Goals, solutions will be identified to ensure that the EU provides sufficient support to local and regional authorities in responding to future emergencies and addressing the social transformations taking place in their communities.
Priority 3
Cohesion, our core value: EU policies targeting local communities and regions
Put the EU at the service of the people and the places where they live.
Cohesion is not money, it is our fundamental value in the EU.
The third priority will be to ensure that economic, social and territorial cohesion is nurtured and respected in all EU policies that affect people and places where they live (policies targeting local and regional communities). Demonstrate the added value of cohesion not only as a policy, but also as a fundamental value that must be the basis of all EU policies.
