EIC transition challenges aim to take advantage of the outstanding results of an ongoing or recently completed project in a given domain of challenges and to encourage advanced innovation with a clear perspective towards market introduction for specific applications.

HORIZON-EIC-2021-TRANSITION-CHALLENGES-01-01: Medical technology and devices: from laboratory to patient

- Research on new medical technologies and devices, funded by the EU, reveals unique opportunities for patient well-being and support for clinicians.
Companies with medical technology and devices face long and capital-intensive product development cycles, complex regulatory procedures, slow market entry that requires the support of key opinion leaders, and intensive follow-up with early users. With mature technology, a well-thought-out and realistic path of exploitation is needed with an emphasis on achieving market traction as evidence of the clinical and market potential of the idea.

HORIZON-EIC-2021-TRANSITION-CHALLENGES-01-02: Energy collection and storage technologies

- Innovative technologies for efficient, cheap, sustainable, compact and flexible energy collection, conversion and storage are crucial to achieving the objectives of the Green Agreement for decarbonised energy systems, while achieving the transition to safe and affordable energy. EU-funded research into innovative energy technologies reveals unique opportunities for the integration of advanced and sustainable energy collection and storage technologies.
Proposals are expected to develop energy storage technologies or combined energy collection / storage technologies, ready for investment and business development, with the prospect of taking advantage of certain system integration opportunities.
