A call was published - Research and Innovation and other measures to support the implementation of the Mission in the field of soil and food health (HORIZON-MISS-2021-SOIL-02).
In line with the priorities of the European Green Plan, the European Commission's commitment to democracy and equality, and the role of Horizon Europe missions in involving citizens in research and development activities addressing major societal challenges, successful proposals will involve and activate local and regional authorities. measures to protect and restore soil health with citizens and stakeholders, social innovation. Successful proposals should contribute to the soil mission, specific objective 8, "Soil Literacy".
The main goal of this topic is to create spaces and practices for regional and local dialogues on soil health and land management in order to develop a common understanding of the nature of the challenges and to create public and private solutions for the protection and restoration of soil health.
The proposals should enable citizen participation in local and regional decision-making and in the implementation of soil and land management activities.
The project results are expected to contribute to all of the following expected outcomes:
• Intensified and structured dialogue on soil health challenges and solutions at regional and local level with the participation of a large number of stakeholders and citizens with a balanced representation of interests, leading to joint creation of public and private solutions, in line with existing EU strategies
• Significantly greater awareness and understanding of soil values and health challenges and soil drivers (bio-physical and socio-economic dimensions) across Europe
• enhanced cooperation between public and private actors, joint implementation of solutions aimed at protecting and restoring soil health;
• more efficient exchange of experiences between municipalities and regions across Europe, effective exchange of experiences through an established forum or other mechanisms, inter alia to make the most of the opportunities for sustainable soil management provided by European funds.
