The European Commission and the City of Leiden - European City of Science 2022 have issued a call for applications for EU TalentON, a new event that challenges young, academic talent to find solutions that contribute to the goals of the five EU missions from Horizon Europe.
The four-day event brings together early-career researchers aged 21 to 30 and features an extensive program created by academia, entrepreneurs and industry.
Divided into small teams, young academic talent will receive the necessary tools to create innovative and market-oriented socially influential solutions, as well as workshops, company visits, lectures, creative leadership and cultural experiences. At the end of the event, each team will present its solution to the expert jury and the public. The winners will receive sponsored prizes from the EU, industry and mentors.
Each team will focus on a challenge related to one of the five EU missions. These new Horizon Europe tools support research in finding answers to some of the biggest challenges we face today: fighting cancer, adapting to climate change, protecting the ocean, sea and water, living in greener cities and ensuring healthy soil and food. The missions set clear goals to be achieved by 2030. They provide the right conditions and funding to enable researchers, innovators, policy makers, businesses and citizens to work together.
EU TalentON supports the Horizon Europe Work Program 'Enhancing Participation and Strengthening the European Research Area'. All costs of participants, including travel, accommodation and mail will be covered.
Early career researchers can apply to join EU TalentON.
Applications close on July 1, 2022.
