Seminar: NEW EUROPEAN BAUHAUS FESTIVAL: Sustainable and inclusive city districts

The seminar will be organized as a hybrid event in Brussels at the EU headquarters in the Stockholm region, linking with the theme of the New European Bauhaus (NEB) festival; Encouraging long-term, life-cycle and integrated thinking in the industrial ecosystem.

The Stockhom Green Innovation District (SGID) is proud to contribute to the creation of the candidate city of Stockholm to become one of the 100 climate neutral cities in the EU. The aim of the seminar is to promote NEB values ​​- beautiful, sustainable, together. This will be done by showing how the five districts of SGID are transforming in terms of energy, water, waste, mobility and citizen engagement.

The seminar aims to share challenges, experiences and best practices on how to design a sustainable and inclusive city district, with innovative and climate-neutral solutions by and for citizens. Speakers are the founder of the SGID initiative Mr. Allan Larsson, former member of the EU Mission Committee for Smart and Climate Neutral Cities and Ms. Helena Bjarnegård, National Architect in the National Committee on Housing, Construction and Planning which is the national contact point for the New European Baihaus Initiative. Sweden. Other speakers include representatives of other European climate-neutral cities and representatives of SGID.

After the seminar you are invite to join for a networking lunch.

About Stockholm's Green Innovation district

SGID is a new growth area in Stockholm for innovation and sustainability, comprising five city districts in different stages of development in a joint mission led by Stockholm City and Nacka Municipality together with citizens, businesses and academia such as KTH Royal Institute of Technology, IVL Swedish Institute for Environmental Research and RISE Research Institutes of Sweden.

The goal of SGID is:

  1. I) make the district climate neutral by 2030 by involving citizens, businesses and academia in a new way of initiating transition
  2. II) promote innovation and investment in an attractive, beautiful, sustainable and inclusive city

III) promote the export of innovative technologies and system solutions, from the local to the global level
