after a successful pilot project, the Commission launched a second Women TechEU call.
This year, up to 130 high-tech women-led start-ups will qualify for funding and business acceleration services to grow into tomorrow’s women’s technology leaders. WomenTechEU is Europe's response to the current very low representation of women in high technology.
This year, the European Commission has more than doubled its budget to 10m euros, which should fund up to 130 companies. Applications are open until October 4, 2022, 5:00 pm (CET).
Women TechEU provides support to startups run by women at the earliest, riskiest stage of their company’s growth. In addition to the € 75,000 grant, finalists receive mentoring and tutoring for leadership, internationalization, business modeling, implementation strategy, market entry, fundraising, investor negotiation and more, through the EIC Women's Leadership Program.
By supporting high-tech startups led by women, the European Commission seeks to create an equal and more prosperous European high-tech ecosystem. In addition, the Women TechEU program promotes women leaders in their industries, but also as decision makers. The objectives of the Commission's funding label exploit their position in the investment space, where women are still under-represented.
Women TechEU is one of several EU initiatives aimed at supporting and empowering women in technology and innovation, including the annual EU Innovator Award and the new EIC program for women's leadership.
The program is funded under the Horizon Europe work program for European innovation ecosystems, with the support of the European Innovation Council (EIC).
