The first call for Scalable Cities seeks to improve and optimize the internal management structure of cities and to support cities in the development of innovative concepts and financing mechanisms in order to involve private investors.
Action grants Scalable Cities financially support cities and ad hoc partnerships that want to replicate measures successfully implemented through SCC projects (Smart Cities and Communities projects) to facilitate the transition to climate neutrality.
Grants for the Scalable Cities action are implemented in cooperation with the European Commission and CINEA. The European Commission has established a clear goal for Scalable Cities to introduce extensive, innovative, replicable and integrated solutions in the energy, transport and ICT areas and to initiate major economic investments with the aim of transforming the market.
Action support with grants is organized through four calls for proposals with four deadlines and covers different topics.
The indicative budget that will be allocated in the period from 2022 to 2024 amounts to EUR 900,000 to finance around 20 to 30 proposals, each lasting 6 to 12 months. The maximum amount of grants is EUR 50,000.
Applicants can submit proposals that have larger total budgets, but the operating grant will in no case exceed EUR 50,000 per project. In this case, applicants must co-finance the difference.
Grants for the Scalable Cities action are structured as a service contract.
The deadline for applying for the 1st call is 31 August 2022. at 23:00 CET.
