The Knowledge Exchange Platform (KEP) encourages the exchange of new R&I solutions and best practices, by organizing horizontal seminars in Brussels and peer-to-peer events in the regions or by hosting local exhibition events.

The platform is a form of cooperation with the European Commission's Directorate General for Research and Innovation.

KEP's flexible cooperation process enables effective dialogue with European cities and regions on research and innovation issues and effective transfer of expertise between local innovation ecosystems, including businesses, universities and citizens.

If you want to get involved, come to the seminars dedicated to various topics of interest to European citizens. You can even propose the topic of an event to be held in your city/region on timely research and innovation issues.
Simply contact your representative in the European Committee of the Regions and explain your idea. Also, it is usual for OR members to regularly organize such events in cooperation with the European Commission.
The aim of these activities is the exchange of new research and innovation solutions and best practices and dialogue with different stakeholders, including companies, universities and citizens.

The joint action plan (from November 2020) was additionally upgraded to a strategic level. Today, KEP°2.0 is aligned with the renewed initiative of the European Research Area and linked to the implementation of the Science Meets Regions project.
It is expected that this year the activities of the Platform will also focus on the implementation of the Horizon Europe program.

In 2022, KEP activities will cover two main topics:
- synergy, green and digital transition and European missions
- young people in research and innovation and the European Year of Youth 2022.

Two horizontal seminars will be organized:
• the first one was held on 22 June 2022 on "Building synergies for a successful green and digital transition – further steps" (Synergies for the implementation of EU missions and the stimulation of revolutionary innovations), where you can watch the recording
• the second will be held as part of the European Week of Regions and Cities from 10 to 13 October 2022 on the participation of young people in European research and innovation policies and the role of regions and cities".
