Annual EU regional and local barometer

The European Committee of the Regions plans to present this year's EU Regional and Local Barometer at the plenary session in October 2022.

The report is based on original studies commissioned by the European Committee of the Regions, as well as academic research, contributions from other European institutions and open source documentation, and contains facts and data for a speech on the state of cities and regions in Europe, which will be presented at the plenary session in October 2022. to be held by the President of the European Committee of the Regions, Vasco Alves Cordeiro.

This year's barometer focuses on the pressing challenges facing EU cities and regions: the economic and social consequences of Russia's war against Ukraine, the lasting effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and the recovery needed, the climate crisis and energy transition, and the fight against inequality. He also directs the work of the European Committee of the Regions towards the realization of political priorities in the period 2020-2025, which are bringing Europe closer to citizens, building a resilient community and promoting cohesion as a fundamental value of the EU.
