The Commission has adopted the main work program of Horizon Europe for the period 2021-2022, which sets out the objectives and specific thematic areas for which a total of € 14.7 billion will be allocated.
The MEDIA call will provide support to European festivals and festival networks that show a significant share of non-national European works, while preserving their identity and unique profile.
European festivals aim to increase public interest in non-national European audiovisual content and to promote the circulation and visibility of non-national European audiovisual content.
Eligible activities:
European festivals program a significant part of non-national European works and aim at activities aimed at expanding and renewing the audience. Particular attention will be paid to applications that represent appropriate strategies to ensure a more sustainable and environmentally friendly industry and to ensure gender balance, inclusion, diversity and representativeness.

The MEDIA strand shall provide support for a European cinema operators' network, with a broad geographic coverage, screening a significant proportion of non-national European films, fostering the role of European cinemas in the circulation of European work.
